Dr. Carol Elizabeth Wesley Steiner Ph.D.

December 13, 1941 – October 5, 2020

On Monday, October 5, 2020 Dr. Carol Wesley. Steiner Ph.D. loving mother and grandmother passed away at the age of 78 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Carol was born on December 13, 1941 in Buffalo, NY to Ursula and Charles Wesley. She received her bachelor’s degree from Damen College (Class of 62), Master’s degree from Canisius College (Buffalo, NY) and her PhD in Psychology from Columbia – Pacific University.

Early in her career Carol worked as the coordinator of the Erie County Department of Anti-Rape and Sexual Assault and was a faculty member of Canisius College Counseling Education – Graduate Division while completing her PhD. After graduating with her doctorate in Psychology she would then go on to start her own private practice which she continued for the next 40 years.

Carol was a lover of nature, the outdoors, spiritual teachings, and reading, and was a member of the Mensa High IQ society. An avid reader and learner she was known to read 2 to 3 books at a time each week and has read thousands of books based on her library collection. She also enjoyed her enormous garden, her love of painting and art and was a lover of music, all kinds but most especially classic, and African drumming.

Most importantly Carol was known for her heart. She was a mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She extended her home and love graciously to others without hesitation, every year going above and beyond with her larger than life holiday traditions that brought together blended families bonded by love. These are only small examples of the capacity of her heart that was beating strong until the end.

Carol was preceded in death by her Farther Charles and Mother Ursula, Brother David and Sister Barbara. She leaves to cherish her memory her three children, Jesse Steiner (Wilmington, NC), Nadia Thomas whom she adopted at birth (Charlotte, NC ) and Tobias Steiner (Kim) Las Vegas, NV, her four grandchildren, Daren Thomas (Santa Clarita, CA), Khadijah Thomas (Charlotte, NC), Gavin Steiner (Buffalo, NY) and London Steiner (Buffalo, NY) and her two great grandchildren, Xolani Thomas and Xamir Thomas (Santa Clarita, CA) and a host of other relatives and friends.

Due to the current restrictions with Covid-19 and the distance from family and friends’ arrangements were entrusted to Inspired Life Cremations. A small memorial service and balloon release was held on October 6 th , 2020 at 7:15am at Sunset Park, Las Vegas, Nevada.
