It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Matthew Shelby Decell, who departed this life on April 12, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 65.
Born on October 29, 1959, in Torrance, California, Matthew was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. His life was a testament to perseverance, dedication, and unconditional love for his family.
Matthew spent the majority of his professional life working for a bakery—a career that spanned four decades and reflected his incredible work ethic and steadfast commitment to providing for those he loved. He took great pride in his work and was admired by colleagues for his reliability, integrity, and strong sense of responsibility.
Beyond his professional life, Matthew had a lifelong love of photography. With a camera always close at hand, he found beauty in everyday moments and had a remarkable ability to capture the essence of life through his lens. His photographs now serve as cherished keepsakes that reflect the world through his thoughtful, artistic perspective.
Matthew is survived by his loving wife, Maritza Decell, and his beloved children: Joshua, Jason, Jae, Natalie, Nicole, and James. He also leaves behind two treasured granddaughters, Emelia and Aliyah, who brought him immense joy. He is further survived by his mother Patricia, his father David and stepmother Lynda, and his dear sisters, Susan and Pamela.
Those who knew Matthew will remember his steady presence, quiet strength, and his deep devotion to his family. He was a man of few words but boundless care—and his legacy lives on in the love he gave and the values he passed down.
